The match between Nadur Youngsters and Xaghra United ended up in a large win for the former side.  Nadur found some difficulties during the first half until they scored the first goal but converted their superiority into goals after the break.  Xaghra tried hard to protect their area and their defensive deployment was very effective during the first half hour of play.  However, as time passed by the Youngsters increased their pressure and the final score rewards Nadur’s players for their continuous efforts to push the play within Xaghra’s area.

Xaghra almost surprised Nadur in the first minute of play when Sam Harland entered the area but his effort was blocked by goalie Mark Grima.  As expected Nadur started to pile pressure over their opponents but they found it difficult to create serious scoring opportunities.  In the fourth minute a half volley by Claudio Antunes following a cross by Josef Buttigieg ended just over the crossbar and on 21 minutes an effort by Christian Azzopardi missed the target.  Two minutes later Nadur’s Joseph Grima had a good shot from close distance following a cross from the right flank that ended on the side of the net.  On 38 minutes a strike from outside the area by Ramon Dos Santos was blocked to a corner by the defence.  From the same corner action taken by Joseph Grima, Xaghra’s rearguard failed to clear the ball from the area and at the end Claudio Antunes lobbed the ball into the far corner of the goal.  Xaghra went close to level the score three minutes later when Sam Harland came face to face with the goalkeeper at the edge of the area but the latter once again denied Xaghra’s young striker from scoring. On 42 minutes Xaghra’s goalie Daniel Galea was called to make a difficult intervention to turn to a corner a close ranged shot by Antunes.  Nadur however doubled the score on 45 minutes through a low shot from outside the area by Claudio Antunes that surprised goalie Galea.

Nadur continued to dictate matter after the break and increased their lead on 53 minutes when Claudio Antunes entered Xaghra’s territory with a personal action and placed the ball in goal as the goalkeeper came out of his position in an attempt to block the danger.  The score became 0-4 on 65 minutes following another initiative by Nadur’s Brazilian striker.   Claudio Antunes entered Xaghra’s area with a personal move from the right flank and netted with a low drive.  Xaghra went closest to score a consolation goal on 71 minutes but Luke Attard’s strike was well saved by substitute goalkeeper Charlon Muscat.  Three minutes later Xaghra’s substitute Steve Sultana cleared in time to a corner an effort by Joseph Grima who was alone in the area.  Nadur scored their fifth and last goal on 76 minutes when Antunes entered the area, passed around the goalkeeper and from his low cross Joseph Grima placed in goal with a tap-in.
