Ghajnsielem obtained their second win from two matches in the GFA Division II campaign from their encounter against Gharb Rangers.  The two sides were coming from a victory in their respective opening match of the campaign and therefore they were both aiming to confirm the good moment.  In this match Ghajnsielem produced the better play during the first half and they also managed the only goal of the encounter just before the stroke of half time.  Gharb made up for their disappointing performance with a good reaction after the break, but the blacks defended well and managed to defend their one-goal lead until the final whistle.

In the eighth minute of play Ghajnsielem could have opened the score but Kenny Hili headed badly from close distance a good cross by Frank Lee Galea.  Gharb continued to suffer Ghajnsielem’s play during the opening stagers of the encounter and on 16 minutes Charlon Tabone had a good effort following a cross by Joseph Attard. The Rangers created their be3st scoring opportunity of the first half on 24 minutes when they operated a counter attack but Frank Attard’s lob ended wide.  On 45 minutes Ghajnsielem scored the goal that decided the encounter when Charlon Tabone pushed the ball in goal from close distance following a cross by Kenny Hili.

The Blacks could have doubled the score in the fourth minute of play of the second period buty a low shot by Joseph Attard following a corner action was well saved by goalie Daniel Spiteri.  Five minutes later Gharb went close to scoring through na direct free kick by Justin Azzopardi that ended just wide and on 67 minutes Ghajnsielem were again dangerous when an effort by Robert Grima hit the post.  Gharb increased their efforts in an attempt to level the score but the closest that they went to scoring was on 83 minutes when two attempts following separate actions by Frank Attard.  In the first occasion Gharb’s striker had his attempt blocked with difficulty by goalie Luke Buttigieg and in the other occasion his first timer from a good position ended wide.
