Munxar Falcons confirmed their positive start in the campaign and obtained the first win after the draw registered in their first match.  On the other hand Zebbug suffered the second defeat from two matches and despite expressing a good challenge they ended up empty handed.  The two teams produced a balanced first half but during the second period Munxar were more effective as they controlled well at their defense and capitalized from mistakes at Zebbug’s rearguard that decided the encounter.

The Falcons had an excellent start and opened the score in the second minute of play through a low shot by Stefan Farrugia that surprised goalie Baskal Saliba.  One minute later Munxar were again dangerous through a header by Roberto Sammut from a free kick by Frank Paul Azzopardi that ended just wide.  Zebbug however had a good reaction and leveled the score on 5 minutes when Sylvan Galea took advantage of some hesitation at Munxar’s rearguard and placed in goal as the goalkeeper came out in an attempt to block the danger.  The Rovers gained confidence and they also took the lead on 13 minutes through a low shot by Michael Zerafa.  Three minutes later Munxar replied with an attempt by Frank Paul Azzopardi that ended wide.  On 40 minutes Zebbug protested for a penalty when Sylvan Galea entered the area and came face to face with the goalkeeper but ended on the floor following a challenge by Garry Hili but the referee did not notice any infringement in the intervention.  The same Galea had another scoring opportunity two minutes later but his close ranged attempt as he was alone in the area was deflected to a corner by goalie George Vella.  Zebbug were punished for the two missed chances as Munxar leveled the score on 43 minutes when the referee awarded a penalty for a tackle by Matthion Formosa on Frank Paul Azzopardi and the latter converted from the spot kick.

After the break Munxar seemed in a better shape and on 52 minutes they were also dangerous through a strike by Ryan Meilak that ended just wide.  Munxar regained the lead on 55 minutes when Zebbug’s rearguard was exposed and Orlando Atzori lobbed over goalie Baskal Saliba with a fine header following a cross by Frank Paul Azzopardi.  Zebbug’s reaction was sterile and six minutes later Munxar were again dangerous through a personal action by Frank Paul Azzopardi but Munxar’s player had his attempt blocked in time by substitute Alex Tramboo.  Munxar continued to control Zebbug’s reaction with authority and they also managed to seal the victory with a fourth goal that arrived on 84 minutes when Frank Paul Azzopardi took a short clearance from Zebbug’s goalie, entered the area and netted easily in goal.  The Falcons could have added another goal on the stroke of regular time but goalie Baskal Saliba left his position to block in time on substitute Alex Sacco who was alone in the area.
