Oratory Youths produced an impressive performance in their second match of the championship and obtained a convincing win over neighbours Victoria Hotspurs who are considered as challengers for the honours this season.  With this result Oratory’s consideration in the championship gain more credit than just an outsider to the main teams while Victoria’s hopes of being among the protagonists of the championship are reduced.

In this match Oratory consolidated their achievements so far as they continued to show that the young players have now gained the necessary confidence to challenge the more quoted sides while their most experienced players contributed to help the Youths to make a decisive improvement in the quality and effectiveness of their play.  The defensive department has established itself so that the team can be more adventurous and take the full potential of the strikers Mark Camilleri, Thiago Dos Santos and Shaun Attard.  These three players were not only the scorers of the goals in this match but they distinguished themselves in the matches played so far this season.

On the other hand the Hotspurs had a disappointing start in the championship with two defeats from two matches that they were expected to win.  Victoria are finding it difficult to settle the new players who were engaged during summer with the intention to have a team that can be competitive for the honours.  So far the Hotspurs lack the necessary co-ordination, are fragile at their defense and cannot produce effective play in attack except for sporadic personal initiatives.

The Youths took control of the match from the very beginning and in the sixth minute a low shot by Shaun Attard was cleared off the line by Moussa Bamba.  Oratory opened the score on 12 minutes through an excellent header by Mark Camilleri following a fine cross from the right flank by Thiago Dos Santos.  The Hotspurs continued to suffer Oratory’s play and on 15 minutes the Youths doubled the score when Mark Camilleri released Thiago Dos Santos with a header in Victoria’s territory and the Brazilian striker lobbed into an open goal as soon as goalie Matthew Vella left his position in an attempt to block the danger.  The Hotspurs struggled to produce a good reaction and their first serious attempt at goal arrived on 27 minutes when Jonathan Bajada arrived on the ball before goalie Franklin Vella his header ended away from the open goal.  Five minutes later Oratory’s goalie Franklin Vella was at the right place to neutralize a low shot by Bello Osagie following a personal action and seconds from half time Victoria’s substitute Antoine Camilleri released Michael Bezzina at the edge of the area but the latter had his shot that ended just wide.

In the first minute of play of the second period Victoria’s Dylan Bellotti failed to connect to an inviting low cross by Jonathan Bajada and the Hotspurs were punished for the missed chances as Oratory added another goal one minute later when Shaun Attard produced a typical move near the corner flag and after releasing himself from his direct opponent he fired in goal with a spectacular curling shot that surprised the goalkeeper.  The Hotspurs were demoralized and on 59 minutes Oratory scored their fourth goal through another fine header by Mark Camilleri following a cross by Thiago Dos Santos.
