Nadur Youngsters confirmed their ambitions to be the major challengers for the title with an important win over Kercem Ajax.  Nadur’s win showed that they are an experienced side that can come out of difficult moments and manage to arrive to the victory despite a suffering territorial superiority for most of the encounter.  In this match they took full advantage of two mistakes by Kercem’s rearguard by scoring two goals that decided the delicate issue.  Nadur in fact were facing Kercem at a moment where the Ajax were going through a good form.  Kercem registered two convincing wins in their previous matches and were aiming to win this match to join the top positions on the table.  However, Kercem committed the two mistakes during crucial moments which compromised their possibility to win at least a point.  In this match Nadur had Mark Hyzler and match winner Joseph Vella who entered the field of play as substitutes after recovering from injuries, while Kercem had Elton Vella who was in the starting lineup for the first time this season also due to a recovery from an injury.

Kercem produced the better scoring opportunities during the first half as Nadur found it very difficult to convert their best actions of play into attempts at goal.  On 6 minutes Malcolm Vella concluded high form close distance a corner kick by Mario Mifsud.  Two minutes later Nadur’s goalie Mark Grima went out of the area in time to deny Andrew Mizzi from scoring following a counter break and the Youngsters replied on 16 minutes through an effort by Joseph Grima that ended high.  Two minutes later a shot by Claudio Antunes missed the target and on 21 minutes Kercem’s Malcolm Vella had his attempt from a cross by Andrew Mizzi ended wide.  Nadur had a good moment of play just after the half hour mark and on 32 minutes Kercem’s goalie Leonard Camilleri deflected to a corner a low drive by Joseph Grima following a good action by Charles Mercieca.  Two minutes later Nadur’s Christian Debono had his attempt that ended high and on 35 minutes Nadur’s goalie Grima once again had to leave his position to block the danger as Andrew Mizzi was alone in the area.  Nadur managed to open the core on 38 minutes when a cross by Milos Stojanovic was not cleared by the defense and the ball arrived to an unmarked Josef Buttigieg who fired in goal from a good position.  Kercem produced an immediate reaction and on 40 minutes the referee applied the advantage rule following an infringement just outside the area and the ball arrived to an unmarked substitute Luke Portelli who concluded badly form close distance.  The Ajax however managed to level the score with a goal that arrived in the second minute of play of stoppage time before half time when Luke Meilak’s cross from the right was met by Anderson Ribeiro who turned the ball in goal from close distance.

After the resumption Kercem continued to show better organizational play and on the hour mark an attempt by Jean Paul Mizzi was blocked by the defense among protests for a penalty.  Nadur replied on 65 minutes through a free kick by Claudio Antunes that ended away from goal and six minutes later Joseph Grima had his shot following a pass by Antunes that ended just wide.  One minute later Kercem’s Robeiro released Luke Meilak in Nadur’s area but the latter concluded weak and goalie Mark Grima neutralized the potential dangerous action by Kercem.  On 73 minutes the same Meilak had a good strike that was blocked by the defense and one minute later Nadur had an attempt by substitute Mark Hyzler that missed the target.
