Xewkija Tigers made sure of the full points from their match against Oratory Youths with five goals scored during the first period.  The final score clearly indicates Xewkija’s superiority over their opponents where their three strikers scored a brace each.  Xewkija were also well deployed at their defense as Oratory’s striker Shaun Attard, Mark Camilleri and Thiago Dos Santos rarely tested the goalkeeper and their two goals arrived during the dying moments of the encounter when Xewkija committed two infringements within their area which led to two penalties.

For this match Oratory had to re-organize their defensive department due to injuries as the ex-international Jeffrey Chetcuti took the role of Darko Stojanovic and Manuel Gauci was in the starting line-up instead of Keith Borg.  On the other hand Xewkija came out for this encounter with Danjiel Sakic who was replacing Miroslav Gegic who was suspended while player-coach was among the starting line-up for the first time this season.  During the match Xewkija’s Chris Camilleri also came in as a substitute after some time away from the field of play due to an injury.

As expected Xewkija took command of play from the very beginning and in the second minute of play Bogdanovic failed to conclude in goal a cross by Dene Shields.  Xewkija opened the score on 7 minutes through a close ranged shot by John Camilleri following a cross by Shields.  Oratory failed to produce a reaction and Xewkija continued to dominate the encounter.  The Tigers also doubled the score on 20 minutes through Daniel Bogdanovic who concluded in goal a low cross by John Camilleri.  The score became 3-0 two minutes later through a header by John Camilleri following a cross by Bogdanovic and on 28 minutes oratory had their first attempt at goal through a shot by Mark Camilleri that was weak and did not create any danger to goalie Adrian Parnis.  Xewkiia were awarded a penalty on the half hour mark when Daniel Bogdanovic was floored in the area by James Tabone and Dene Shields converted from the spot kick.  Six minutes later Oratory could have scored but Christian Cardona concluded badly a cross by Thiago Dos Santos and on 40 minutes Daniel Bogdanovic made it 5-0 with a shot following a personal action.,

Oratory tried to produce some pressure on Xewkija’s rearguard after the break and on 50 minutes a free kick by Johann Attard gave the illusion of a goal but ended wide and on the hour mark the reigning champions scored the sixth goal through Dene Shields who concluded in goal after exchanging the ball with Bogdanovic.  On 67 minutes a fine header by Shields following a corner kick by Bogdanovic ended just high and one minute later a strike by Gennaro Hili ended away from Oratory’s goal.  Xewkija were again dangerous on 78 minutes through an attempt by Bogdanovic following a free kick by Chris Camilleri that was well saved by goalie Elliot Fenech but during the final stages the Tigers gave up teir pressure and Oratory took advantage of some space in their opponents’ area.  On 83 minutes a shot by substitute Michael Mumford ended just high and one minute later the Youths were awarded penalty for a foul by Josmar Vella on Mark Camilleri and Shaun Attard placed the ball in goal with his shot from the spot kick.
