Victoria had the first good scoring opportunity of the encounter.  In the fourth minute Ajibade Adesina received a ball in the area but the midfielder concluded badly form a good position.  One minute later Kirkop replied through a personal initiative from the right flank by Jotham Adeniran but the striker had his attempt stopped by the post.  Three minutes later a header by Victoria’s Pedro Tarancon form a corner kick by Eman Bugeja was saved to a corner by goalie Joshua Galea and on 14 minutes Kirkop’s Adeniran had a free kick that ended just wide.  The same Adeniran had another free kick on 16 minutes that was well saved by goalie Joel Xiberras and four minutes later Victoria’s Sanz Ortiz produced a personal action but his final shot missed the target.  The Wanderers tried to increase pressure on Kirkop’s rearguard but they found it extremely difficult to create danger to goalie Galea.  On 34 minutes Kirkop had another good opportunity from a free kick by Adeniran but goalie Xiberras was well placed an neutralized the danger.  One minute later the same goalkeeper was called to make a good intervention to block a close ranged attempt by Adeniran and on 36 minutes Kirkop’s goalie Joshua Galea saved in two attempts a header by Sanz Ortiz following a cross by Eman Bugeja.  The Wanderers were also unlucky on 42 minutes when a strike by Adolfo Sanz Ortiz was stopped by the crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten so that the first half ended in a goalless draw. In the first minute of play of the second period the Wanderers had a goal by Pedro Tarancon that was disallowed for an offside infringement and on 56 minutes Kirkop replied through a shot by Matthew Caruana that ended high.  Kirkop opened the score on 65 minutes when Victoria’s goalie Xiberras partially saved a shot from long distance by Matthew Caruana and from the rebound Michael Zammit placed in goal among protest by Victoria’s players claiming an offside position by the scorer.  Victoria were shocked and two minutes later the visitors doubled the score when Victoria’s defense cleared short a confused action in the area and at the end the ball arrived at Vladimir Klikic who fired in goal from the edge of the area.  The hosts were demoralized and on 72 minutes Kirkop could have added another goal but Vladimir Klikic’s shot on the run following a cross by Michael Theuma were saved by goalie Joel Xiberras with the aid of the crossbar.  The same goalkeeper denied Kirkop from a third goal on 90 minutes with a good intervention following a lob by Adeniran and in the third minute of stoppage time the two sides ended with ten players when the referee showed the red card to Victoria’s Eman Bugeja and Kirkop’s Jotham Adeniran for a foul and reaction.  Seconds before the final whistle Kirkop were again dangerous through an effort by substitute Andre Cutajar that ended wide.
