The match between SK Victoria Wanderers and Oratory Youths was considered as a clash between two teams who are aiming to earn a place with the first four teams at the end of the first phase of the championship.  The Youths, who had impressed mainly during the opening matches of the championship, were coming from a hard-earn win, while the Wanderers, who are struggling to be consistent in their performances, were coming from a disappointing defeat.  As a result the match was mainly conditioned by the fear of the two sides to compromise the result.  In this match Oratory produced more score opportunities particularly during the first half where they could easily paved the way to a victory from this encounter.  The Youths were punished for their poor finishing as the Wanderers were more cautious after the break and the actions at goal during the last forty-five minutes were rare.  Overall the Youths probably lost two points from this match while the Wanderers were rewarded for their efforts by earning a point which keeps them in the challenge for the main objective of the season.  The Wanderers had Serbian goalkeeper Branko Vrndic who was making his debut as he replaced their regular goalkeeper Joel Xiberras due to an injury.

Oratory seemed more adventurous than their opponents form the opening minutes of the encounter and on 7 minutes Mark Camilleri incredibly concluded high from a good position inside the area.  On 15 minutes the Youths once again threatened Victoria’s rearguard through a header by Kevin Farrugia from a free kick by Thiago Dos Santos that was well saved on the line by goalie Branko Vrndic.  One minute later a low shot addressed to the far post by Shaun Attard, after receiving from Dos Santos, ended inches wide and on 24 minutes Mark Camilleri arrived on the ball before goalie Vrndic following a cross by Shaun Attard but the header ended on the roof of the net.  Oratory went closest to open the score on 31 minutes when Thaigo Dos Santos had a good shot from outside the area that surprised goalie Vrndic but the ball hit the post and from the rebound Mark Camilleri lifted over the crossbar with an open goal at his mercy.  The Wanderers were finding it difficult to create danger towards Oratory’s goal mainly because their main striker Sanz Ortiz is not going through a good moment of form and this was the third consecutive match that the Spanish striker failed to hit the target.  Victoria’s best scoring opportunity of the match arrived on 34 minutes when a header by Ajibade Adesina from a free kick by Eman Bugeja was partially saved on the line by goalie Elliot Fenech and from the rebound the same goalkeeper cleared to a corner to deny the same Adesina from concluding the action in goal.  Two minutes before half time Oratory also protested for a penalty when Thiago Dos Santos entered Victoria’s area with a solo action but ended on the floor following the challenge with his direct opponent.

The Youths retained their territorial supremacy after the break and on 52 minutes they had an effort through Thiago Dos Santos, after receiving from Mark Camilleri, that was neutralized by goalie Vrndic.  On the hour mark the Wanderers ended with ten players as Nicholas Vella was sent off for dissent and three minutes later the Wanderers had an opportunity form a free kick by Eman Bugeja but the ball ended just over the crossbar.  The Youths tried to increase their pressure but on 73 minutes they also ended with ten players when Michael Mumford was sent off following a second bookable offence.
