Kercem Ajax confirmed their good moment of form with a victory over St Lawrence Spurs in a match from the sixth day of the championship.  Kercem paved the way to the victory with two-goal scored during the first quarter of the encounter.  The Ajax reduced their rhythm for the rest of the encounter and although the Spurs threatened to re-open the issue Kercem held command of play and the victory was never in contention.  Kercem’s midfielder Elton Vella was included in the starting line-up for this match and he is expected to be available for the next matches after recovering from a serious injury.  However, Kercem are still awaiting Malcolm Vella to recover from his injury so that their player-coach Sabri Rais will have the complete squad available for his selection.  In the match against St Lawrence their Bulgarian striker Anderson Ribeiro failed to hit the target but the Kercem’s other strikers and midfielders, particularly Ian Xuereb who scored a brace, made up by scoring on four occasions.  St Lawrence, on the other hand, tried hard to earn something from this match but they suffered too much pressure from their opponents.  The Spurs only produced sporadic attacks and they also failed to capitalize from their best scoring opportunities so that their was no way to avoid the defeat.

The Ajax opened the score in the fifth minute of play through a header by Mario Mifsud following a corner kick by Mario Mifsud.  St Lawrence’s reaction arrived four minutes later through a lob by William Barbosa that ended high and on 23 minutes Kercem doubled the score following a prolonged action.  Anderson Ribeiro failed to control the ball in the area following a cross by Petar Kyunyurdzhiev, the ball arrived to an unmarked Ian Xuereb who controlled the ball and fired in goal from close distance.  On the half hour mark Kercem’s Ribeiro concluded badly following a cross by Joseph Azzopardi.  Ten minutes later the same Brazilian striker won a ball from St Lawrence’s rearguard but his lob was weak and goalie Joseph Grima saved without difficulty.  The Spurs managed to reduce the deficit on 41 minutes through a close ranged header by Mambaye Boye following free kick by William Barbosa, with the ball hitting the post before ending in goal.  Two minutes later the Spurs could have leveled the score when Mambaye Boye released Shaun Mizzi in the area but the latter concluded high from a good position.  In the first minute of stoppage time Kercem’s Petar Kyumyurdzhiev had a direct free kick that ended high.

On 52 minutes Kercem went close to scoring through a curling shot by Elton Vella following a pass by Ribeiro that ended inches wide.  However, Kercem managed to re-establish the two-goal lead on 52 minutes when a clearance by goalie Joseph Grima arrived to Ian Xuereb who fired in goal from just outside the area with a first timer.  Three minutes later St Lawrence’s goalkeeper saved an effort by Ribeiro and on 58 minutes the Spurs lost a golden scoring opportunity when Mambaye Boye came face to face with the goalkeeper following a through pass by Barbosa but the striker’s lob was deflected by goalie Leonard Camilleri and the ball hit the post with the action ending in a corner.  Kercem continued to dictate matters and on 64 minutes Ribeiro released Jean Paul Mizzi in the area but the goalkeeper saved the danger.  Three minutes later goalie Joseph Grima was once again called to make a difficult intervention to turn to a corner an effort by Ribeiro.
