Nadur Youngsters made sure of their sole leadership on the table at the end of the first round with the full points obtained from their match against SK Victoria Wanderers.  The title contenders seemed overconfident for this encounter as they were coming from an important win in their direct clash against reigning champions Xewkija Tigers.  Nadur held some territorial supremacy during some stages o the encounter and produced the better scoring opportunities throughout the ninety minutes but they rarely gave the impression that they had full command of the situation.  The Wanderers on the other hand had a prudent approach where they tried to protect their area through and organized deployment of the defensive department and the midfield.  However, they suffered from the absence of Spanish striker Adolfo Sanz Ortiz due to an injury so that their approaches towards Nadur’s goal were very weak and Nadur’s goalie Mark Grimas was never seriously tested by Victoria’s strikers.

Nadur tried to score an early gosal and in the first minute of play an effort by Milos Stojanovic ended wide.  Minutes later the Wanderers replied through a shot by Ajibade Adesina that missed the target and on 12 minutes Nadur’s Joseph Vella also had a shot from a good position that ended away from goal.  Six minutes later Victoria’s goalie Branko Vrndic neutralized without difficulty a shot by Christian Debono after receiving from Charles Hili and on 22 minutes Victoria’s Joel Xuereb hit badly in an attempt to surprise Nadur’s goalkeeper with a strike from outside the area.  In the following action Nadur’s Joseph Vella concluded wide from a good position and on 26 minutes Victoria’s goalie Vrndic left his position in time to take the ball before Claudio Antunes could conclude in goal.  Two minutes later an effort by Charles Hili following a prolonged action in Victoria’s area was also neutralized without difficulty by goalie Vrndic.

The Youngsters scored the goal that was decisive for the encounter on 52 minutes when goalie Vrndic partially saved a shot by Claudio Antunes and from the rebound Milos Stojanovic headed into an open goal.  One minute later Vrndic was once again at the right spot to clear the ball from the edge of the area to deny Antunes from concluding in goal.  The Wanderers tried to increase their efforts in an attempt to save the result as Nadur continued to find it difficult to take full control of the match.  On 61 minutes Nadur’s rearguard clear the danger from the area following a free kick by Eman Bugeja with some difficulty and four minutes later a header by Sam Frank Bajada following a corner kick by the same Bugeja ended wide.  On 75 minutes a header by Victoria’s Ajibade Adesina was cleared to a corner by Ramon Dos Santos and from the resultant corner action a shot by Lauran Dimech was blocked to another corner.  Nadur had an opportunity to make sure of the victory with a second goal on 86 minutes but a shot by Joseph Vella was saved without difficulty by goalie Vrndic.
