Ghajnsielem came out in a better shape and could have scored an early goal but in the seventh minute of play a shot from the edge of the area by Charlon Tabone ended inches wide and three minutes later a free kick by Jason Portelli was well saved by goalie Daniel Galea.  In another occasion Kenny Hili incredibly concluded high from a good position following a pass by Charlon Tabone.  Xaghra recovered from the difficult start and play started to take place within Ghajnsielem’s territory.  On 19 minutes a lob by Daniel Bartolo following a pass by Victor John Saliba missed the target.  Xaghra opened the score on 28 minutes through a fine header by Daniel Bartolo that ended out of the reach of Ghajnsielem’s goalkeeper.  On the half hour mark Xaghra were unlucky when a strike by Steve Sultana was stopped by the crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten and one minute later Ghajnsielem’s goalie Luke Buttigieg saved well a low shot by Luke Attard.  Ghajnsielem continued to suffer pressure and on 38 minutes Luke Attard concluded high from a good position and on 43 minutes a goal directly from a free kick by Joseph Scerri was disallowed for an offside infringement.  In the first minute of stoppage time before half time Ghajnsielem’s Jason Portelli had a free kick that ended.

The Blacks came out more aggressive for the second period and in the fourth minute of play they were awarded a penalty for handling by Xaghra’s defender Emanuel Galea and Jason Portelli converted from the spot kick.  Ghajnsielem kept insisting and on 55 minutes a header by Charlon Tabone following a corner by Jason Portelli missed the target and on 59 minutes Xaghra replied through a personal action by substitute Aleandro Bezzina but goalie Buttigieg left his position in time and the latter blocked the danger.  On 69 minutes Ghajnsielem managed to take the lead through a shot from outside the area by Kenny Hili that hit the crossbar before crossing the line despite the attempt by goalie Daniel Galea to clear the danger.  Xaghra tried to recover the result in the remaining minutes but they ended up conceding more space at their defensive department.  As a result the Blacks had the better scoring opportunities but they failed to seal the victory.  On 42 minutes a shot by Charlon Tabone ended just wide from Xaghra’s goal and in the first minute of stoppage time Jason Portelli released Kenny Hili but Xaghra’s goalie Daniel Galea managed to block the danger.
